چکیده

Abstract We study the LISA sources that arise from isolated binary evolution, and how these depend on age metallicity, using model stellar populations bpass. as single-aged which are analogous to star clusters. calculate combined GW spectrum of all binaries within clusters, including types compact well those with living stars. These results allow us evaluate detectability clusters LISA. find at late times dominant WD–WD by factors 50–200, but between 108 109 years we a significant population NS–WD BH–WD (2–40 per 106 M⊙), is related treatment mass transfer common envelope events in bpass, wherein relatively likely be stable. Metallicity also has an effect relative dominance different binaries. Using information about known will aid identification sky locations where one could expect sources.

Spectral Characteristic Evolution: A New Algorithm for Gravitational Wave Propagation

We present a spectral algorithm for solving the full nonlinear vacuum Einstein field equations in the Bondi framework. Developed within the Spectral Einstein Code (SpEC), we demonstrate spectral characteristic evolution as a technical precursor to Cauchy Characteristic Extraction (CCE), a rigorous method for obtaining gauge-invariant gravitational waveforms from existing and future astrophysica...

Aperture synthesis for gravitational-wave data analysis: Deterministic Sources

Gravitational wave detectors now under construction are sensitive to the phase of the incident gravitational waves. Correspondingly, the signals from the different detectors can be combined, in the analysis, to simulate a single detector of greater amplitude and directional sensitivity: in short, aperture synthesis. Here we consider the problem of aperture synthesis in the special case of a sea...

The gravitational wave rocket

Einstein’s equations admit solutions corresponding to photon rockets. In these a massive particle recoils because of the anisotropic emission of photons. In this paper we ask whether rocket motion can be powered only by the emission of gravitational waves. We use the double series approximation method and show that this is possible. A loss of mass and gain in momentum arise in the second approx...
